Day 61 and on we drag. Yesterday, I tried to ignore Bunny and go through the day as I normally would on a day off from work. My hope was in the phrase "a watched pot never boils" but it didn't help. Between 10:45 and midnight last night, I was sure she was going into labor but apparently she was just having trouble finding a comfortable position to lay in. By 1:00, she was snoring in competition with Bob. Oh well. It will happen when it happens and there's nothing I can do about it. Maybe I shouldn't have taken the time off from work; but then I would have fretted about her all day long and used extra gas going home to check on her at lunch.

I was wondering what I would find when I logged in this morning. I must admit, I am really looking forward to the morning when I log on to find the number of puppies and their colors. Guess my patience is finally wearing thin, too. Don't forget to breathe - now and during labor. Good luck! Take some naps now with Bunny. You'll need them one of these nights.
ReplyDeleteSleep while you can, and that progesterone test would come in handy if you ran it -- the drop signals 12 to 24 hours before labor begins! Mary Roslin Williams in her great book, Advanced Labrador Breeding [now published as Reaching for the Stars] suggests a good book, a pot of tea, and a rocking chair. ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips and support you guys! :) I ran the Progesterone test Friday (17th), and again on Monday and Tuesday because I was at work and could. I tried running it without spinning the blood, just by letting it separate on it's own, on Thursday of last week but it didn't work. I have pulled a sample this morning and will run it at work but judging by the way she is acting, I believe I already know what the result will be.
